Obituary of William LELEK

LELEK, William (Bill) March 7, 1926 – Wayne, Alberta December 23, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta William Lelek, beloved husband of Josephine Lelek, of Calgary, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the Foothills Medical Centre on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 90 years. William was born in Wayne, Alberta on March 7, 1926 to Steve and Effie Lelek. He married Josephine Cush on October 12, 1957 in Calgary. Bill’s work included farming, mechanic supervisor at Canadian Pacific Railway, safety supervisor at Yellow Cabs, and a foreman at Cedar Log Homes. After retirement, Bill enjoyed golfing, curling, gardening and playing the stock market, as well as travelling to visit his children and grandchildren in Australia. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Josephine; children, Ken and his son, Jesse of Vancouver, BC; Maryanne Artus (née Lelek) and her husband Mitchell, and their children Jacqueline and Ryan of Perth, Australia; Michael and his wife, Isabelle, their sons, Zachary, Maxim and Eagan of Calgary; James “Timothy” and his sons, Joseph and Nicholas of Duchess; David and his wife, Tory, and their children, John “Benjamin” and Samantha of Perth, Australia; sister, Theresa Hallihan of Calgary; and brothers, Mike Lelek of Claresholm, AB, and David Lelek of Lethbridge, AB. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Effie Lelek; brothers, Joe and John; sisters, Mary and Olga. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Unit #100 at the Foothills Medical Centre for their genuine care and support. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
