Obituary of Darren Philip McNEIL

December 24, 1960– North Sydney, NS December 16, 2016 – Calgary, AB Darren McNeil beloved fiance of Nancy Farah of Calgary, passed away after a brief but valiant battle against kidney cancer, on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the age of 55 years. Darren was born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia where he spent his early years, he moved to Alberta in 1976 where he settled in Lethbridge. He moved to Calgary in the early 1980’s where he began his career in the automobile sales industry. Darren worked at several dealerships before settling at Northland Volkswagen in the 1990’s where he spent the remainder of his career. Darren loved nature and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Alces (Moose) Lake, BC with his brother and friends, getting in a round or two of golf and taking his rifle for a walk in the woods (lately he brought back more pictures then animals). The last five years of Darren’s life were probably his best. His career had taken off; he recently completed his NADA (National Automotive Dealer Association) certification. He saw his son Michael and step kids Sam and Taylor graduate and go off to university and college, and he met his soul-mate Nancy, who lovingly stood by his side through all of his difficult times. Darren will be lovingly remembered by his beloved fiancée Nancy Farah; his son, Michael, Michael’s mother Sheryl Marchuk; step-children, Sam Connors and Taylor Connors; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Sue McNeil, of Halifax and Paul and Andrea McNeil of Calgary; he will also be remembered by his mother, Mary Steele-Boston; his nephews, Garret (Krista and Cambur) and Brandon McNeil of Halifax; Cory McNeil of Calgary; and Darren and Nancy’s dog Levi. Darren was predeceased by his father Charles McNeil.
