Obituary of Richard Ric William PICKFORD

February 13, 1942 – Innisfail, AB November 5, 2016 – Calgary, AB Ric Pickford, beloved husband of Louise Pickford, of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the age of 74 years. Ric graduated from the University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Commerce in 1966 just two years before he married the love of his life, Louise. A loyal employee of the Hudson’s Bay Company for 37 years, he held many positions, retiring as an Internal Auditor. He enjoyed the outdoors, often hiking, camping, biking, snowshoeing, and skiing, both cross-country and downhill. He often would take his camera and turn his outdoor adventures into movies and slideshows. Ric also enjoyed woodworking and home improvement projects that would challenge his creativity. Ric was a devoted family man who loved to spend quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful friend with a clever sense of humour who will be missed dearly. Ric is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Louise; his son and daughter-in-law, Bryce & Amanda Pickford, son Trevor Pickford, daughter Tara Pickford; and grandchildren, Tia, Liam, Cameron and Trissa. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann & Richard and their daughter Kathy (Kirk) and their 3 children; and numerous extended family. Ric was predeceased by his father William R. Pickford, mother Blanche K. French, step-father Clarence E. French and his niece Shirley Taylor. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. If friends so desire, donations to Bladder Cancer Canada can be made through .
