Condolences
Mom, you always had the strongest spirit, the most caring heart, the constant faith that people would rise above. You loved all the creatures of this world, and fed and protected them. You spent so much a part of your life dealing with your own and Dad’s health issues, and you never gave up hope, even when it came to your beloved granddaughter Shawna Lee’s drug addiction (my precious Shawna Lee). My hope is that your light will continue to shine on her as she fights this battle, and that she will prevail. Scott misses you so much, his constant friend and companion. I miss you every day. You know how strong I am but I miss your backup and reassurance that I am doing the right thing; you gave me the strength to carry on daily and make it feel like the battle was worthwhile. I hope you are with your beloved sister Patti, your parents, and your pets. I hope it’s a better place. I hope you can feel the love that your family sends to you. I miss your hugs and beautiful smile Mom. Be at peace and keep shining that beautiful light of yours. All my love, Shelley xoxoxoxoxo
You were always welcoming. A bright spirit with a smile on your face everyday. You will always have a place in my heart. Many Memories.
Carolyn we all love you and miss you and your giggly smile. We have been friends since 1958 when Arlyn Ryder introduced us on a summer day in Kap. A year later I introduced you to Sydney L Thurber , who got his name from a little dog called Skip. Skip, Scott, Shelley and Shawna Lee our sympathies to you but it is also a proud time for all who have loved and known this wonderful woman.
Andrea Ryder Hahn: So very saddened with the news of Carolyn’s passing. Carolyn and I were very good friends since grade school. When we in high school we often double dated. Great memories. I know that Carolyn is now in the welcoming arms of her loved ones who were there to receive her. God Bless
I remember Carolyn’s home as very welcoming with a wood fire to share and where she taught me to knit when we were young girls. We were good friends. Our prayers are with you all.
My deepest sympathies go out to Skip, Scott, Shelley and Shawna, on behalf of all the “Kap” McMeekins. Carolyn and I are cousins, grew up together, spent a lot of time in each other’s homes, were in the same grade at school. I have a lot of memories of our childhood, such as the times we would spend in Hearst in the summers where both Carolyn’s sets of grandparents lived down the road from each other. We had many good times.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Donna Carty
My sympathies to the Thurber family. your mom was a guiding light, and now her time has come to rest peacefully. We are all made of stardust, but Carolyn ‘s light was particularly strong, inspiring and loving. Rest peacefully
In memory of a childhood friend from Kapuskasing, Carolyn was always such a good and kind person as well during high school days at KDHS. She and Skip joined us on weekends at the beach early in our marriages and she wrote letters often but especially at Christmas. May she rest in Peace.
