Obituary of Carolyn Hilda THURBER

May 5, 1939 – Hearst, Ontario July 21, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Carolyn Hilda Thurber, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2016 at the age of 77 years. She will have joined her parents, Frank and Olive Olver; her sister, Patricia Anne and numerous friends. Carolyn will be keeping company with them now and her dear pets. Carolyn was a lady who stood strong in her beliefs in human decency. She was also a steadfast defender of animals. Carolyn was very proud of her Kapuskasing and Hearst origins, and often talked of them and her cherished friends and their adventures. She was an avid crafts lady: she loved to knit sweaters, mitts and toques for her family; as well, Carolyn and her granddaughter Shawna Lee created many unique Christmas ornaments. Carolyn fought to stay with us through all her battles with health. She can now rest peacefully without pain. Carolyn will be deeply missed by her husband, Sydney “Skip”; her son, Scott; her daughter, Shelley; and her treasured granddaughter Shawna Lee. A memorial service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
