Dear Family of Oliver Willam Williams
I extend to Oliver’s wife and daughters and son my sincere condolences on the death of Oliver- he was a most punctual educator and was a good teacher and nice personality.
Oliver and I worked for one Term together at Suzhou International Foreign Languages School but Oliver departed summer 2010 and went to Shanghai and thereafter lost contact.
However, one time discussing matters Oliver stated that he had worked for CP Rail ( as I had 1968-1970 summers -Center Street and 12 St East Towers-Leverman) and had worked both Alyth ( he thereafter went to Texaco – South leg of the wye at Altyth) and furthermore when I told Oliver my father was longtime CPR and during years 1954-1965 was Chief Train Dispatcher Edmonton Division —- the community of Consort was raised and my father had his young prospective telegraphers “recruited” by Bert Day at Consort ( or Spence at Vegreville) and Oliver then stated he had spent time in Consort ( knew the Day family—later Mr Day was later Car Control at Alyth) and likwise knew some others ( Eddie Woelk – nice person and Yardmaster) from that era.
I was saddened to see where Oliver decided to depart SIFLS but was quite moved reading Oliver’s untimely obituary.
There are NOT many who would rise to the challenge of teaching in China following retirement—but Oliver did—and reason for my admiration of his talent, personality and keen wit—-I have missed him for many years.
My deepest regards to the family of (Willam) Oliver Williams and he will be missed –he was a good teacher.
Likewise have sent copy of Oliver’s obituary to Suzhou International Foreign Languages School and they will be saddened with this news.
Oliver worked hard but could have had an easy retirement–this speaks yards for his character and ability to accept spartan conditions
