Obituary of Willam Oliver WILLIAMS

June 27, 2016 – High River, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Oliver Williams, age 66, at High River General Hospital on Monday, June 27, 2016.
Oliver was born in Russell, Manitoba on November 27, 1949 to Oliver & Beatrice Williams of Roblin. He lived in Roblin for 6 1/2 years before moving with his family to Consort, Alberta in July 1956. In July 1963, the family moved to Virden, Manitoba where Oliver completed Grade 12 in 1966. He worked at a newspaper office which involved making the typesets, operating the printing machine and other odd jobs. After working for Chevron for 1.5 years, Oliver went to Europe. He worked in Cardiff, Wales as Assistant Account Manager in a Department Store. After touring Europe, he returned to Canada and worked for CP Rail and then Texaco Canada Inc. from 1971 to 1991. From 1991 to 2007, Oliver was Senior Transportation Services Manager of Western Canada/Northwest Territories for Imperial Oil Limited from which he retired. In 2007, Oliver went to China and taught English as a Second Language at Yancheng Institute of Technology, Suzhou International Foreign Language School, Yancheng Teacher’s University and Shanghai Liantuo. In 2012, he became a private English tutor in ESL until October 2015.
Oliver is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Steven (Cindy), Melissa (Peter) and Christina (John); two sisters, Mary Ann (Wes) and Rosemarie (Barry); one brother, David (Maureen) and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
