Obituary of Carol Colleen HAWLEY-BRISTER

December 26, 1952 – Edmonton, AB May 13, 2016 – Calgary, AB Carol Hawley-Brister, of Calgary, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 13, 2016, at the age of 63 years. Carol is survived by her daughter, Meaghan Hawley Brister, sister and brother-in-law Heather and Paul, and nieces Ainsley and Rachel. She was predeceased by her parents, Norma and Harry Hawley. Carol grew up with her family in Edmonton. After graduating from high school, she attended Bible school in Calgary. For several years after that, Carol worked as a flight attendant with a few different airlines, and flying and travel became a real passion. Later on, around the time her daughter, Meg, was born, Carol became a registered nurse. She worked for many years as a nurse, including palliative care nursing where her gift of compassion brought comfort to many terminally ill patients and their families. In recent years Carol was retired, but her love for travel, as well as her kindness and generosity towards others was as strong as ever. The most important things to Carol were her faith and being a mother, both of which she embraced with great and deep love. Carol will be dearly missed, honoured and celebrated by the many lives she has touched.
