Obituary of John Brabazon BANNISTER

BANNISTER, John Brabazon November 5, 1931 – County of Essex, England May 8, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta The fourth child of parents Aileen Mary (nee Leigh) and Thomas Hope Bannister. John’s older siblings were Robert Hope, Maureen Lydia, and Glynn Murray and together with our parents sailed from South Hampton on the Empress of Britain in October, 1936 landing in Montreal. Traveling across Canada by train, we arrived in Calgary, and settled here to begin a new life with the help of grandma Leigh, who was already a resident of Calgary. John received his education at Connaught Elementary, grades 1 to 9 and attended Western Canada High School, grades 10 to 12. John graduated high school in 1949 and went to work for the Caterpillar dealer for 8 years. He then applied to General Motors and was accepted for a position in 1958 which became a lifelong career ending in 2002. In 1955, John married Eleanor Ruth Holland and was presented with three sons, namely John Glen, Dean Robert, and Jeffrey Bruce and has resided in his present home since 1961 in Acadia. Since retiring in 2002, John spends as much time as possible with daily walks in beautiful Fish Creek Park. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through .
