Obituary of William Bernard Gormley

February 25, 1931 – New Glasgow, Nova Scotia May 4, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and grandfather on May 4th, 2016 at the age of 85. Bill made his way out west as a young man working for the CPR at Lake Louise and Alberta became his home. He overcame many obstacles to pursue his own education and then inspired a generation of students as a teacher and principal for 30 years with the Calgary Catholic School Board. Bill, also known as “Shorty”, was a loyal friend, a devoted father and a proud and playful grandfather. He was a generous, sensitive, loving man, with a witty sense of humour. His humble intelligence coupled with his sincerity and quick wit were the magnets of his personality that drew in anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Kelly (Jeff) and Zackary Lisa (Dave); and granddaughters Ailish and Owyn Lucy. Bill has gone to be with his son, Patrick William who predeceased him on December 4, 2015. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers Joe “Butch” and David and sisters Florence, Mary, Ann, Joyce and Joan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He was predeceased by brother Robert “Boug”, sister Sally and infant sister Helen. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
