Kenneth (Ken) Thwaites, 78, passed away peacefully at home after a short, but courageous battle with cancer on March 4th, 2016. He spent his last days surrounded by family.
Ken was born in Montreal, Quebec on February 9th, 1938, and married the love of his life, Irma Thwaites on August 24th, 1963. Everyone who met Ken knew that he was the quintessential family man, proud of his family, whom he would bring up in conversation at every opportunity, and to anyone. He loved to engage friends, family, and strangers in conversation and discussions. Ken was actively involved with Heritage Park, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Salvation Army, and the South Health Campus for many years, as a tireless community volunteer.
Ken is survived by his wife Irma, his daughters Cathy Hands (Ron), Tracy Simms (Guy), Sandy Carson, grandchildren Richard Thwaites (Mia), Cameron Hands, Troy Hands, Rebecca Carson, Trinity Carson, Jeremy Simms (Denise), Chad Simms (Brittanie), and great-grandchild Jackson Simms, as well as extended family. Ken was predeceased by his mother Wilhelmena Thwaites in 2004, and father Herbert Thwaites in 1968.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through .
