Condolences
Joan, Jennifer, and Scott,
I’m sure I’ve shared how much I appreciated Dave’s friendship with you but I want to add my thoughts to the other lovely tributes. Dave hired me to fill a temp position, I’d just moved to Calgary and didn’t know a soul, lucky for me I me this soul. I was so concerned in the interview that I didn’t know anything about the energy industry but Dave said, ‘you gonna work hard?’ I said, ya. ‘you gonna learn what you need to know?’ ya. ‘you gonna laugh at my jokes?’ That’s how it started and that’s how it went for many years. Dave had no shortage of energy to get things done and to do the right thing, he never stopped investigating, inquiring and sharing information, and he always shared a laugh. He showed us all a lot about how to be a good friend, and I know we’ll pay that forward in his honour. Thank you for letting me share time with Dave, I never had quite such a friend.
My family and I send our deepest condolences for the passing of Dave. I was fortunate to have called Dave “Boss” from 2008 – 2010. I’ve never had a more fun job experience than with Dave. He was such a great mentor and he was always there to make you laugh. As we all know, there was never a dull moment with Dave….never. Scott, you had an awesome dad. You should be very proud and I know he was always very proud of you.
We miss you, Big Dave!
Love,
The Wilsons
It was such a pleasure to get to know and work with Dave as a colleague. He was one of those people that once you met, you never forgot. He always made a room brighter as soon as he walked in with his wit and charm. Nothing meant more to him than his family which was known to all who knew him. May all your cherished memories help you through this difficult time.
Sincerely, Leanne & Jason
Dear Joan and Family,
I am so sorry to hear the news about Dave’s passing. I have so many fond (and funny) memories of our BOVAR days together. Most of them involve him making fun of me for being from Manitoba…but I still liked him anyway! :) He will be missed by all who knew him, I know that for sure. My thoughts are with you.
Dear Joan; Sandy & I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
We were very fortunate and honored to have had Dave in our lives. He leaves with us so many memories that we will forever hold onto. Our family will always miss you but never forget you . You will forever have a special place in our hearts.
Good bye for now Grandpa Dave.
Love,
The Ruddock Family
Such a sad loss to you and to all of us who have been privileged to have had him in our lives. So many memories, memories that typically evoke a smile. Joan, you and your family have wonderful memories to assist you through this most difficult time. Dave will be missed. Sending many hugs!
Dear Joan, Jennifer and Scott, please accept our condolences for the loss of your wonderful husband and father, Dave, We lived as neighbors in Calgary, and went off in different directions as our careers unfolded, but Dave and I would bump into each other at different stages of our life. Once we met at a restaurant line up in Toronto after 20 years and it was like we had never been apart. A few years ago we met up again and it was the same special experience. Dave was always positive and supportive with a knack for making you feel like the most important person in the room. We have fond memories of our visits with you in Tswassen and Toronto.
Please know we are thinking about all of you at this difficult time and wish you well.
My deepest condolences, knowing you all allowed me to know what an awesome guy Dave was, my deepest sympathy for your loss.
He will be so missed but never forgotten. We love you Dave. Rest in Peace.
Jenn, Joan, Shaq, and Cameron – I am so very sorry to hear about Dave. Be strong knowing that there are lots of people around you supporting you in this time of need. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love to all of you.
With deepest sympathy, our warmest thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Truly enjoyed Dave as a colleague and friend and have many fond memories of him. Our thoughts are with you.
I had the profound pleasure of working with Dave from 2004 to 2008. His broad smile and quirky sense of humour lit up every room he entered and lifted the spirits of those of us fortunate enough to work with him. He was generous with both his time and his wallet and I was an appreciative beneficiary of both. I enjoyed a few rounds of golf with him as his guest and he was one of the first and most generous sponsors of my Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2012. His opinions and advice were sought out and respected throughout the Calgary business community where he was as a man of great integrity.
Dave spoke often and proudly of his family. It was obvious how devoted a husband, father and grandfather he was, how important you all were in his life and what joy he found in your accomplishments. I feel blessed to have known Dave and to have enjoyed the privilege of his friendship. I will remember him fondly as one of the positive influences on my life. I hope that warm memories of wonderful, happy times with a great man help soothe the grief and sense of loss you are feeling today.
Dear Mrs. Tyson, Jenn & Scott
Donavan and I are truly heart broken on the passing of a true mensch. We both have such fond memories and can think back to many fun times in the Tyson household with all of you. There was never a time that we didn’t feel welcome in your home. Through the many conversations with Jenn over the years I know just what an incredible grandfather Mr. T was and how proud he was of all 4 of his grandsons. These 4 boys have been blessed with so many special memories they will forever cherish. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time. All our love Shelbi & Donavan
The memories and love you left us with will always be cherished. I love you Dad.
