My Dad had a love for life, his wife and his family. He was always interested in current affairs aswell as a good understanding of history. He loved being an engineer and solving problems. He was always thinking of ways to improve the efficiency of processes, whether it be how to more efficiently manufacture safety clips, to designing and building a new forklift truck, to manufacturing stockyard pens, to designing a device to improve fuel consumption in vehicles and to reduce green house gasses. My Dad always had an opinion. People who met him liked him. He took time to get to know people and always looked for ways to help people. My Dad traveled to many destinations in the world and took the family to Nigeria, Malaysia and eventually to Canada where we finally made our home. My Dad loved his adopted country but always remembered where he came from in the UK. My Dad was always quick to find the funny side of a situation and to have a good laugh. He enjoyed a good prank and pulled some funny ones over the years. He always loved to talk about his travels. He loved his family.
My Dad fought valiantly to stay alive in the last few years; he always rallied back until the next hurdle came along. He surprised the medical community on many occasions with his determination and fortitude to get himself back to health. His last months saw him presented with many hurdles but he was not going to give up, he did not want to leave his best friend of 76 years, our Mum, Doreen. The family is comforted in the knowledge that our Dad passed away peacefully with dignity which is appropriate for the proud man that he was. He had a full life and will be missed. God Bless.
May the ocean be still and guide you safely home Granddad.
Love always.
