Condolences
Our thoughts and prayers are with Harold’s family and friends. Mal and I both worked with Harold at various times and we were very saddened to hear of his passing.
Dear Debbie and Katie
I am so very sorry for your loss. I first met Harold in 1992. I was in Engineering school at the UoA and looking for a summer job, which at that time was not easy. Harold, who worked at the time for IMC Consulting (Stantec) in Calgary, gave me an opportunity when there were not many to be had. I remember instinctively how he took the time to mentor and provide guidance that would ultimately shape the path for my career. Harold was kind enough to offer me multiple summer positions with IMC during my studies at UoA, and ultimately hired me after I graduated from Civil Engineering. Years passed after I began my career with CANA Construction, and it was then we crossed paths when we completed a number of projects together, including Telus Spark and Winsport Athletic and Ice Complex to name a few. I will always remember Harold’s passion, friendship, and ability to simplify and solve the most complex issues. However I will be forever grateful for the opportunity he gave a kid from Edmonton looking for work. He will truly be missed by everyone in the community who’s lives he touched, but not forgotten.
Debbie, Katie and Mike
It was so sad to hear the news of Harold’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Harold was truly a very unique person who left a lasting impression on many people . I being one of them. He will be dearly missed
Dear Debbie and Kattie,
My condolences to you and your families. I was shocked and saddened to hear Harold had passed away. We worked together and found we always had our offices adjacent to one another no matter where the company moved to in Calgary. He was a great friend and we had lots of fun and satisfaction getting stuff built in Calgary. Harold was an inspiration to me and any others who were fortunate enough to know and work with him. He is and will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers to you and my deepest sympathy.

Debbie, Katie and Mike: please accept my deepest condolence for your loss. Harold and me worked together at Stantec for several years, and he provided lots of great advice (about work and family life), a few good jokes along the way, and friendship. His loss will be felt widely across several communities of people and business, but Harold always talked about his family and the importance of making time for family. My memories of Harold were on my mind when I woke up this morning, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended families today. James.
Harold, a long time colleague for more than 20 years, it has been a pleasure and privilege to work with you on many exciting and memorable projects. Your leadership, technical knowledge and experience brought these projects to reality that benefit thousands of Calgarians everyday.
Thank you for having the chance to work with you, you will always be remembered.
Harold and I worked together at Stantec for 17 years beginning in 1990 when our group in Stantec was called IMC Consulting. It was a small group of about 25 people and we worked very closely together. Harold stood out because he dealt with the construction of new communities but had, if I remember correctly, a background in Sociology. His easy going nature and sense of humor was responsible for resolving a lot of issues and putting everyone in a good mood. He had a very task oriented and practical side to his nature, which complemented the laughter and camaraderie. I’m sure I learned a great deal about land development from Harold and will forever appreciate his influence on my career. So sorry to learn of his passing.
I had the great fortune of working with Harold at Stantec for the last 8 years. I appreciated at the time what a great opportunity I was given to work with him and it’s value is even more clear to me now. He was not only a great mentor and colleague, but he was a truly one of a kind person who will be deeply missed. My thoughts go out to your family.
I am very sorry to hear of Harolds passing. We met on various occasions through work. His knowledge and professionalism were impressive and his friendly and gentle manner made you look forward to the next time. My deepest sympathies to his family and his co-workers.
Debbie and family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this sad time. Harold will be greatly missed. During the past eight years working with Harold I had the opportunity to observe his wonderful leadership and mentorship skills, his joy of life and ability to create an atmosphere at work that included fun. He was respected by everyone who met him. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Fabulous guy to work with, was an inspiration. Will be sadly missed.
My deepest sympathy to all of Harold’s family, many friends, and colleagues on Harold’s passing. Harold was a very good person. He was always a pleasure to be around – always happy to provide good advise or tell a great storey in his happy and friendly manner. I am truly happy to have known and worked with Harold. He made a significant contribution to our community and will long be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. Unfortunately I am away and unable to attend Tuesday’s service. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all.
In life we meet people that are genuine and sincere, Harold was that, a special caring person that offered his compassion, dedication and support. He was a brother and showed his respect to our traditional Siksika ways. The Creator needed him to come home, he will never be forgotten!

My deepest condolences to Debbie and family. Harold was a wonderful, kind, generous and brillant man and the PDO at Stantec will not be the same without him.
Take care of each other and stay strong.

Dearest Debbie and Katie,
I am so sorry and sad to hear of Harold’s passing. Harold was truly a great man who impacted many people in powerful and meaningful ways. When I first entered the development industry, Harold instantly became my mentor, coach, expert advisor, big brother, and extremely close and trustworthy friend. No person influenced my career more than Harold. He taught me to always be honest and act with integrity; to seek honourable and caring ways to serve people; and to always give more than you receive. Harold was a great giver of himself, of his wisdom, and of his love for work and for the people he worked with.
As much as Harold gave to me, and to so many at Stantec and his clientele, he spoke mostly of his endless love and devotion to Debbie and Katie. He told me so many times how much he loved being a husband and a father. I yearn to be a fraction of the man Harold was. I treasure the time I had with him, and I sympathize with and am so sorry for Debbie and Katie’s loss. Indeed, I am sorry to the hundreds, maybe thousands of people who enjoyed the warmth and sincere friendship of Harold. He was a true hero.
