Obituary of Harold PERRIN

September 4, 1951 – September 7, 2015 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harold Perrin on Monday, September 7, 2015, at the age of 64 years. Harold is lovingly remembered by Debbie, his wife of forty-one years, and his daughter Katie (Mike). He is also survived and remembered by his mother Susan; siblings, Joan (Glen), Joyce (Russell), Bruce, Tim (Suzanne) and Scott; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his father Glenn and his brother Stewart (Regina). Harold joined Stanley Associates (now Stantec) in 1977 and worked in increasingly prominent strategic roles in Urban Land Engineering for twenty-eight years. In 2005 he took up the challenge of starting a Project and Program Management group for Stantec in the Alberta South region. Harold was a key individual in the subdivision and approvals of land for the new Alberta Children’s Hospital. His leadership, communication and negotiating skills were essential to the challenging land, building design and technical solutions which resulted in the successful completion of the new Telus Spark Science Centre and the Winsport Winter Sport facility. In his role as Vice President of the Project Delivery Office, Harold was an inspirational mentor and a natural leader who generated loyalty and commitment. Harold took great pride in his work, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. In everything from coaching Katie’s softball team in earlier years to camping trips and summers in Parksville, Harold was happiest when the family was together. In later years, Saturday family dinners and board games became much anticipated and treasured moments. Some of Harold’s favourite memories were of the many happy family Christmases spent together in Hawaii. Harold was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved boating on the west coast. He enjoyed fine wine and sharing good food with family and friends. Harold and Debbie shared a love of travel and had many adventures travelling the world together. Harold brought humour, energy and compassion to everyone around him and made the world a better place. He will be very deeply missed. Harold’s family wish to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Lara and the entire Pampanini family at Hotel Ideale in Assisi, Italy and to Sandy del Castello, Consular Officer at the Embassy of Canada in Rome, Italy. We would have been lost without your guidance, support and compassion in the difficult days following Harold’s passing. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Harold’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 40 Street S.E.) on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
