Obituary of Leslie Vincent SPALDING
SPALDING, Leslie (Les) Vincent
April 15, 1924 – Carstairs, Alberta
September 13, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
Les Spalding passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015, with family at his side, at the age of 91 years.
Les proudly served Canada in the RCAF during WWII. On his return to civilian life he thrived at challenging roles in the Alberta manufacturing and oil and gas industries in engineering, consulting, and various executive positions, finally retiring from the professional workforce at the age of 90 years. On moving to Legacy Estates when it opened 13 years ago, Les served as president of the condominium board until resigning that position in August of this year – he will be missed by his many friends there.
Les is survived by his four children, Kathleen (Kathy) Oliver, Melanie and Len Sinfield, Lee Spalding and Val King, and Stephen Spalding; four grandsons, Gordon Schmidt (Karen), Ian Schmidt, Geoffrey Sinfield (Dana), and Jacob Sinfield (Maggie); three great-grandchildren, Claire, Celeste, and Fielder. He is also survived by a sister Rita Howey; sister-in-law Maureen Montgomery and numerous nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Kay) Spalding (2001) and his son John Spalding (2002).
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through .
