Obituary of Thomas CAMPBELL

1960 – 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Scott Campbell on June 28th at his vacation home in Scottsdale, Arizona, from an aortic aneurism, at the age of 55. Scott was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan and spent most of his childhood in Edmonton, Alberta, where he graduated from Harry Ainlay Composite High School in 1978. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta in 1982. While working as a summer student in Calgary, Scott met the love of his life, Pat. He introduced himself by knocking on her door and asking her out. Scott and Pat were inseparable from then on, and walked in step for over 34 years, sharing their passion for life. Scott was an example of how to balance life by a commitment to professional and personal excellence. He was a positive light in many lives, and left a legacy of integrity, class, compassion, and love. As an intelligent, hard-working man, Scott had the confidence to set lofty goals both personally and academically. He trained hard to be the best at his two favourite sports, badminton and lacrosse. He knew his dreams would be realized with perseverance, and more importantly, teamwork. During Scott’s successful career, he lived in Calgary, Waterloo and Houston, where he resided at the time of his passing. He worked in the resource section at Western Gas Marketing/Trans Canada Pipelines, Equitable Resources, many years at Shell Energy North America, and most recently in the Future Energy Technologies Division at Shell. One of Scott’s loves was traveling the world with Pat exploring new places, enjoying good food and wine. They were blessed to have met many interesting friends along the way. Scott valued family, and was the organizer of several reunions in Waterton Park, where he spent many childhood summers. Waterton Park was his and Pat’s most favourite place in the world to spend time together. Scott was predeceased by both paternal and maternal grandparents, his beloved sister, Cindy Killips, and his father-in-law, Ralph Stephenson, his sister-in-law Margaret Stephenson and brother-in-law Melvyn Watts. Scott will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Pat, his parents Glenn and Hester, his brother-in-law Gary Killips, his siblings; Ric (Coleen), Leslie Fowlis (Bill), and Wendy Luedtke (Dale). Scott is also survived by Pat’s family, The Stephensons, in England, with whom he was very close, including her Mother Rose, siblings Joe (Diane), Ralph (Lyn), Joan, Tony (Lynne), Jim (Linda), Sheila, David (Susan), and Paul as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews in Alberta and England, for whom he was a favorite uncle. Scott will also be missed by many treasured friends and work colleagues. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at McInnis & Holloway, Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 Elbow Dr. S.W. Calgary, AB at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Another celebration of life will be held in Houston, TX at Morton’s Steakhouse, 1001 McKinney, Tuesday, July 28th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
