Condolences
My sincere condolences to Verna, Catherine, Carrie and Jacqueline. I have never forgotten you, your girls and George, after leaving Calgary to go to Scotland in ’89. You and George were both generous and gracious towards me and Sheila, and you made us feel very welcomed in Calgary and in my association with Petrie Associates Inc. I have fond memories of our lunchtime events in the Stock Exchange Tower and George’s creative culinary experiments with a wide variety of mustards, constant and changing selections of cold meats, hotdog sausages and bread.
He was a remarkable man with a great sense of integrity, common sense, and humour, from whom I learned a lot. I want you and your family to know that he influenced me significantly in the short period that our paths intersected, and that I am grateful for knowing him and your family during that period of my life in Canada.
Once again, my deepest sympathies to you all.
Dear Verna and Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of George. He was such a wonderful, kind, fun person and such a good friend to Jim. We always enjoyed visiting with both of you.
Much love from all of the Sherbut Family.

Mardelle and I are so sorry to hear of George’s passing. I appreciated working with him both at Knowlton Realty where he was always ready to help the new recruits, and at his own company for a short stint. We fondly remember being at your house along with the Kent’s, partaking in wine and George’s famous pasta dish. Our hearts go out to you and your family.
Bob & Mardelle
Verna; It was good to talk to you this morning. George’s obituary this morning really hit home and I could only think of this great guy who was so supportive to me during my time with Knowlton Realty and then later whenever we met. He was always such a confident and positive individual and I occasionally used to call him “Dapper Dan” There are some people who you somehow feel will always be out there, and I am very sad for you, for your family and for myself to have lost this great and supportive influence.
George
Verna; I am so sorry to read of George’s death. I have a couple of George’s classic silly stories that have rattled around in my head for years. It wasn’t just the story, it was the delivery. I lost Shirley, my life partner of 47 years, in February so I can appreciate the emptiness that you must be feeling. Fortunately for both of us, we have the support of family and friends. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Verna…So very sorry to hear of George’s passing. We can’t believe that he isn’t here any more. George was so full of life and such a positive person, and so very well dressed! You people were among the first we met when we arrived in Calgary in 1969. Over the years you and George added to, and were a part of our lives. We think that the world is a little less today without George. All the best to you and your family, take care.
