Condolences
Goodbye old friend. We went to Rideau High School together, played hockey together and lived on Rockcliffe Air Base. Those were the days my friend, we thought they would never end. Laurie and myself exchanged many good emails, photos and thoughts about life after we re-connected back in 2008. I have many good memories and will never forget my good buddy from Ottawa. Until we meet again one day ....

I had called Laurie,, last night, Sept. 15th,, when Val had given me the “Shocking” news of Laurie’s passing. Laurie had been a great friend during our early years growing up in the Bessborough area of Moncton,, we played hockey at the outdoor rink,, and Jones lake,, and Minor hockey in the ole Moncton Stadium. Sports were our passion growing up, and its what brought us together. Laurie and I reconnected about 10 years ago, when I received a phone call from him,, It was so great,, to hear, from him, and remember our earlier days,, We would communicate with each other through emails,, and occasion phone calls,, I would do most of the talking,, telling him,, of canoe/camping/and fishing trips,, shared with my son,, and family,, but mostly with JEFF,, my son,, he loved hearing the experiences,, and of what I was doing,, and sharing my Grandkids story to him,, both being involved in Minor Hockey,, He always related to me,, how fortunate I was,, With my own health issues,, in recent years,, he wanted to know,, how I was progressing,, he was never one to complain about his issues,, just content,, to live with what was dealt to him,, I know,, more then ever how much I’m going to miss My,, ole Friend,, but I draw on the memories we shared.. Val,, I do hope,, that you retain all the memories,, the better times in your lives,, and keep those close to your Heart,, Know that your in my thoughts and prayers,, I’ll keep in touch,, and touch base with you on occasion
Laurie is finally doing all those things he couldn’t while struggling and enduring the years of health issues. He was a wonderful man, and friend and I’ll always cherish the fond memories of our visits whether in Calgary or BC.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Val – Laurie’s true love.
Val, I extend my deepest sympathies to you and to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tracey

Val,
Sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts will be with you during this difficult time.
Kind, humble, and good-natured—these are the first words that come to mind when I think of Laurie. Our friendship, established through hockey, began around 1970. I really enjoyed talking to him again last year at a re-union. As with any good friendship, the conversation just picked up from wherever we had last left off. I am grateful to have known him.
Val, so sorry for your sudden loss of Laurie. Jim & I will be thinking of you on Sept.21st. Our sincere condolences.
Val,

Val, I’m so sorry to hear of Laurie’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. May you find the strength and courage to get through the coming days ahead. Embracing hugs to you.
Laurie was a great Rideau High School buddy who re-connected us after 46 years. He always kept in touch with people and aware of the wonderful value of friendship. I will treasure my memories of him. Peter Christensen (London Ont)
I will miss Laurie very much as he and his family were friends of our family for years. I and my late husband, Art, enjoyed many years of visiting his parents while they were alive and then to see and to speak with Laurie when able. Laurie’s kindness touched us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
I can’t believe my old buddy from Rideau High School and rep hockey teammate is gone from this earth. This is truly sad news. He was a great guy. Will never forget Laurie. We had a bond of friendship so keen in our high school days and early morning practices at the CFB Rockcliffe arena. Our parents helped coach hockey (my dad Ron Trustham, together with Ron Darnbrough and Laurie’s dad Vern, of course). Those were wonderful days of youth. Val – I am so sorry at this news. Take care, stand strong. Laurie was the best and will be remembered.
I’m shocked to hear of Laurie’s passing. My wife Nancy and I offer our most heartfelt condolences to Val and all other family members who have lost a real decent man.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
My condolences, a wonderful man, gone to soon.
Val and Family,
I am so saddened to hear of Laurie’s passing. I really enjoyed all of my Calgary layovers and work visits when I got to share a meal or a couple of Pilson family stories with Laurie. He will be greatly missed.
Lots of love!
I didn’t know my cousin Laurie well, because we lived in different parts of the country, but he was very kind to me when I was in Calgary for a short period of time. I always enjoyed his Christmas cards and the occasional telephone call. I shall miss him for all those reasons. My condolences to Val. Cousin Susan Pilson McGuire
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Val. We will all miss Laurie . Always remember him coming and watching Kyle play hockey, he loved hockey so much. He was so supportive even though he didn’t know Kyle well he still cheered and loved to watch him play. Martine and Bill O’Connor
This is so sad…so sorry that Laurie has left us. We had a special bond through hockey that goes back to the late 60’s. Laurie was a great guy and he will be missed.
I am so sorry to hear about Laurie. Val, if you need anything, let me know.
Love from Cindy Chloe And Brian
