Obituary of Matthew Morris COLLIER

October 2, 1918 – Three Rock Cove, Newfoundland March 6, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta Matt Collier of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the age of 96 years. Matt was born in Three Rock Cove, Newfoundland. He had an accounting career throughout Canada which ended in Parks Canada in Saskatchewan. Matt loved all sports – anything and everything, from hockey, tennis, curling, golf to softball. He also enjoyed all kinds of dancing, particularly Square Dancing, Ballroom and Old-Time Pattern, out of Confederation Park. Matt travelled on land and sea to Europe, Yuma and the Caribbean islands. He was in the Navy and stationed out of Halifax during the war. He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Besides his long-time companion Evelyn Kelly, Matt is survived by three sons, John (Mick) Collier of Chilliwack, BC, Thomas Collier of Enfield, NS and William (Bill) Collier of Rocky Mountain House, AB; his daughter Joan Erwin of Calgary, AB; seventeen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel M. Collier; and two daughters, Susan M. Collier and Catherine F. Grey. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
