Condolences
Mr Crane was my grade 5 teacher at Collingwood Elementary 1967. I’ve often thought of him, he was kind man and he made a great impression on me and my fellow students.
He would play his clarinet while we were doing some school work.
Rest in Love, Mr Crane
I was born in Medicine Hat September 15, 1940 and lived a stone’s throw from the Crane residence on the hill. I still remember Jimmy and I playing nearby the house, which had a pond and remember his kid sister Joyce. We celebrated a number of early birthdays together. Although I lived in Calgary for more than 30 years I regret that our paths never crossed there. God bless you Jimmy.
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Jim. I taught with him many years ago. He was such a kind and caring teacher and a wonderful staff member. Jim shared his gift of music by playing at my wedding. He touched the life’s of many and will be so missed
So sorry to hear of Jims passing. Have Curled with Jim with old timers curling club for years. He was always great to curl against or with.
My since condolences to his family.
Your Bridge Club partners are missing you, Jim
Sincerely
Barbara
On behalf of The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Band, we would like to pass on our regrets to Jims Family, Musical/Military Family and Friends. He was a wonderful man who played with all his heart. Personally, I’m proud to have had the opportunity to sit next to him off and on for 24 years. You will be missed greatly!!
See you in the counter march!
My sincere condolences to family and friends. I curled with Jim for several years in the Calgary Men’s Teacher’s Club, and our highlight was winning the Canmore Bonspiel. Jim’s wide range of talents and busy agenda was impressive. Rest in peace.
His educational, musical and sporting legacy will be remembered. I had the pleasure of working with Jim as a performer, conductor and clinician. He had an inquiring mind and a work ethic few could match. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family.
As conductor of the Rocky Mountain Concert Band I had the pleasure of working with Jim for several years. His musicianship, preparation, concentration and obvious love of music were always impressive. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.
To the Family of Jim Crane
Please accept my sympathy at this time.. I knew and curled with both Jim and Norma in the Mixed Teachers’ league on Friday evenings and curled with Jim in the Silver Fox
His attitude was always positive.
Please know that he will be in my prayers and thoughts at this time

Jim was a retired Sergeant of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment Band. Many of us have benefitted from his experience and expertise as a wonderful clarinetist over his many years as a member and volunteer member. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Jim, thank you, and may you rest in peace with God.
As a long time band mate with 2 bands, I always admired Jim’s musical abilities and his continual quest for excellence. I would always enjoy the discussions we would have. Rest in peace my friend.
Give us a B flat Jim!
I played clarinet beside Jim in the Foothills Concert Band for many, many years. It was always fun. We will miss him. Sincere condolences to Heather, Jody and Russ.
Mr Crane was my grade 5 teacher, nearly 50 years ago at Collingwood. I was lucky enough to run into him over the years. He was my best, most caring teacher EVER.
Thank you Mr. Crane, and god bless you
My condolences to my family members. Uncle Jim was my only remaining uncle and my kids’ great uncle. He will be very greatly missed. He was one of the most gentle people I knew and I’m so lucky to have shared so many wonderful memories with him over the years. Love you, Uncle Jim xx. May you Rest In Peace with those who have passed before you now.
