Obituary of Daniel Paul Dan BOWIE

BOWIE, Daniel Paul “Dan” September 19, 1966 – Peace River, Alberta December 25, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta Daniel Paul “Dan” Bowie, 48, a native of Grimshaw, Alberta who had lived most of his life in Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary on Thursday, December 25th, 2014, after a valiant struggle with Huntington’s Disease. Dan was surrounded by friends and enveloped in love at the time of his passing. Dan was born on 19 September 1966, son of Mary and Arnold Bowie. Before his illness, Dan was an accountant in the Oil and Gas industry for nearly 10 years. He made many friends during those years. Dan was also a traveller and enjoyed spending time planning the many trips he took with his partner Jacob to beautiful parts of the world. Dan was known for his over the top love of the holidays, especially Christmas. He delighted in the music, the giving of gifts and most of all the decorations. If it sparkled, twinkled, was brightly colored or lit up, it was for Dan. Survivors include his partner of 26 years, Jacob Hendriks, his mother Mary Bowie, sisters Betty Ann (Larry) Schur and Donna (Larry) Reiber and brother Clare (Lorna) Bowie as well as his beloved nieces and nephews, Pamela, Alvin, Tim, Anthony, Wendy, Patrick, Ben, Jeff and Kelvin. He is predeceased by his father, Arnold Bowie, brothers Doug, Andy and Perry Bowie and nephew Johan Bowie. A heartfelt Thank You to everyone at the Southwood Hospice for the kind and compassionate care Dan received over this past year.
