Obituary of Jesse Thomas STONEHOUSE

August 18, 1930 – Keswick, Ontario October 15, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta Jess Stonehouse, beloved husband of Vivian Stonehouse of Calgary, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Jess was born in Ontario and moved to Calgary as an infant. He developed his love of woodworking in high school and continued throughout his career as a carpenter. Jess was the 153rd employee hired at the Foothills Medical Centre, where he worked as a carpenter and eventually became the supervisor in the architectural department. He retired in 1993 after twenty-seven years of service. Jess loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing and skiing. He spent over thirty-five years camping in the Columbia Valley, BC. Jess enjoyed square dancing with the Dots & Dashers club. He also spent many hours in his greenhouse where he supplied family and friends with the flowers he grew from seed. In retirement, he discovered Intarsia, a new woodworking hobby. Besides his loving wife of sixty-two years, Jess is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jody and Gerry Raby, and Jamie and Greg Skow; and five granddaughters, Tanya Raby, Sabrina (Joel) Moore, Brittney Skow (Chris Stevenson), Courtney Skow, and Caileigh Skow. He is also survived by his sister Gwen Grobe and her family. He was predeceased by his son Jerald (1996); his parents Squire and Lucy Stonehouse; and by his brother-in-law Elwyn Grobe. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
