Obituary of Alfred SCHMIDTKE

July 18, 1927 – Syczow, Poland

November 12, 2019 – Airdrie, Alberta

Alfred Schmidtke, beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Ost) of Airdrie, Alberta passed away quietly at home on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the age of 92 years.

Besides his loving wife, Alfred is survived by his son, Terry (Heather) of Calgary, Alberta and daughter, Gale (Dean) of Airdrie, Alberta; granddaughters Marnie, Erica (Lundy) and Skylar as well as great-granddaughters Chelsey and Sadie, all of Calgary. Alfred is also survived by his niece, Irene (late Rolf) and nephews, Ernst and Arno and families, all of Germany.

Alfred arrived in Canada in 1949. He spent his entire career as an industrial engineer in the shoe manufacturing business. Alfred was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Port Colborne, Ontario. He and Eleanor recently relocated to Alberta to be with family.

A private family service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019. Interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill, Ontario, at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers we would encourage a donation to the Red Cross.
