David Hale of Calgary passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019 comforted by his family and close friends Kevin and Robyn. David attended St. Michaels elementary and junior high school and served as an altar boy at St. Michaels church. David was very athletically inclined, he loved and played every sport imaginable he particularly excelled in hockey playing at the highest level in Bantam and Midget for the SWAA Broncos and Dresser Atlas winning provincial championships. In his final year of midget the team travelled to PEI to compete in the Canadian National Championship. He was drafted by the Calgary Canucks junior A hockey club, playing three years of junior before hanging up his skates and then starting his trucking business. He owned operated three gravel trucks working mainly for the City of Calgary and Burnco. He was extremely resourceful, ingenious at resolving some very complicated repairs. David was a very generous and caring person, supporting numerous charities, including the Calgary human Society, Sheriff King Shelter and the Salvation Army, to name a few.

David is survived by his brothers, Bruce and Greg; and his sisters, Jamie and Kathy. He was predeceased by his mother Merne and father William Hale. He will be especially missed by his Aunt Bethaleen whom he shared many long conversations with usually about politics and the pioneering days at Herb lake, Hale’s landing.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church (711 – 37th Street N.W.) on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
