Condolences
Dear Rosemary,
Sending our deepest condolences, love, and strength to you and the family on this sad occasion.
Brent was an influential scholar that touched many lives including ours (Neta & I), for which we are forever grateful. I remember during one of our many encounters asking him if he knew about a random and mundane topic, and how he was able to discuss key aspects of it instantaneously - I felt amazed at his breadth of knowledge. I also remember the numerous Christmas parties at your place and the one dosa party at ours, and how we felt part of a larger family that you guys created here in Calgary - again, thank you.
Brent is and will be missed.
With love and respect,
Nishant (and Neta)
Dear Rosemary and all the family:
So sorry to see Brent's obituary in the Ottawa Citizen. I have a vivid memory of going for a drive in the back seat of Brent's convertible with the top down, Rosemary elegant in the front seat and Kevin and I laughing and enjoying the ride. Fast forward many years and many travels and it is clear that the world was made a better place with Brent in it. Sincere condolences for your loss.

Dear Rosemary and family
I was very saddened to learn of the passing away of Brent. I think myself lucky that I met him and was able to share some wonderful times with him at the UNWTO meetings and in Istanbul when he came for our conference in 2013. He was a great man and academician and he will be thoroughly missed.
My condolences
Maria D. Alvarez
Dear Rosemary,
I have good memories of several encounters with you and Brent during UNWTO events in many countries over the years. Brent has been a mentor in my research activities on destination management. In fact, he inspired colleagues and me at the department of urban studies and tourism at the Université du Québec à Montréal, to create in 2007 the World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED) with the support of UNWTO and National Geographic Society. My sincere condolences to you and your family. François Bédard
Rosemary, it was with shock and sadness to open my Citizen this morning to read of the death of Brent. While we have lost touch these past few years I do find you in my thoughts particularly at Christmas when we always did exchange cards. Remember those weekends when you and I would drive to Kingston to visit my Gregor and your Brent - we were so young and we thought indestructible! The years have gone by too quickly but they have been such good years.
Most certainly Gregor and I wish to attend the service and remembrance for Brent to be held in the spring. Please do let us know the date and time.
Our deepest sympathy goes to you and the boys and their families. It will be so good to see you again in the spring.
Beth (Caldwell) and Gregor

Dear Rosemary and family,
We are all so sorry for your loss. Our loss. JR Brent Ritchie is an iconic name in research and academic leadership, not just at the Haskayne School of Business, but globally. There is likely not a single tourism industry scholar in the world unaware of the impact of Brent, and by association his generous legacy at the University of Calgary. We are forever indebted to Brent for his leadership and tremendous contribution to our school and to the academy. Please accept our deep condolences and heartful sympathies. Simply put, JR Brent Ritchie was a great man who made an important and lasting impact and contribution. He will forever be missed.

We were so sad to learn about Brent's passing. Brent was instrumental in shaping the progression and success of the Tourism Industry Association of Alberta in the 80s and 90s. He was a visionary and made huge contributions to tourism in Alberta. He was also a delight to work with and be around. I have so many fond memories of time spent with Brent and Rosemary during that era. Our most heartfelt condolences to Rosemary and family.

I was very sorry to read of Brent’s passing in the Ottawa Citizen today. Our sincere condolences to Rosemary and the family. Brent and I were school friends at Perth Collegiate. Although I have not kept in touch with him over the years, I do have fond memories of our year in Grade 9 together. I do remember that Jean Blair, the Elementary School Principal in Perth was always very fond of Brent. My wife and I are presently in Hilton Head SC but we will be home in the Spring. I would like to attend the Memorial Service at Bolingbrook Cemetery in the Spring.
