Obituary of Michael HOOGAARS

Michael Hoogaars, beloved husband of Joanie Kennedy of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the age of 42 years.

Mike was born in Cambridge, ON on September 24, 1977. He moved to Calgary in 2002. Mike graduated from Galt Collegiate Institute in Cambridge in 1995. Mike married Joanie in 2011. Mike accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of being a professional skateboarder, apprenticing to be a chef, playing hockey at the junior level, and particularly of becoming a father. Mike was an active participant and volunteer within the Calgary skateboarding community. Mike had a passion for skateboarding and music, including being in a local heavy metal band. He was particularly involved with the local music scene.

Besides his loving wife, Mike is survived by his son Owen; mother Mary Stoeber; brother Tim Hoogaars and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and many friends.

Mike was predeceased by his father Peter Hoogaars and step-father Joe Stoeber.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on December, 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
