Obituary of Liam Kaine Nishizawa

April 6, 2004 – Carshalton, Surrey, England

December 18, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Liam Kaine Nishizawa tragically lost his life on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the age of 15 years. 

Liam’s smile and laugh lit up every room. His laugh was so contagious; it was difficult not to join in. His charm and silly sense of humour paved the way for him to easily make friends. Liam was the friendliest young man you could meet. He constantly brightened everyone’s day, always put the needs of others before himself, and would do anything to cheer anyone up. He was the most polite, loyal, selfless, kind, and respectful young man. 

Liam was born on April 6, 2004, in Carshalton, Surrey, England. He moved to Kelowna, B.C., with his family when he was two months old. The following year they moved to Calgary, AB, where Liam grew up. 

Liam was very talented and always impressed those around him with his beautiful artistic skills. He was also known for his fashionable style and love for clothing. Liam loved the outdoors; anything from kayaking adventures with his family to hiking and camping – he would never deny an opportunity to be out in nature. His love for exploring and family vacations evolved into a dream to travel the world.

Liam was fearless and authentic; he was never afraid to be himself. He wanted to make the world a better place and loved giving back in any way he could. There were countless times that Liam made meals for the homeless, donated his clothing to charity, and took part in fundraisers and events. He also loved helping animals from a very young age. As he grew up, he became passionate about taking action to help fundraise for his rescued furry friends. Liam was truly the most caring and giving young man you could ever meet. 

Liam is survived by his brother, Aaron; his sister, Kaylee; his parents, Leanna and Hiro; his nephew, Greyson; grandpa Heer; aunts, uncles, and cousins; countless other loved ones; and his dogs Garbo and Lucy. Garbo was his best friend. He was predeceased by his grandma Heer, and grandpa and grandma Nishizawa. 

It is impossible to state the profound impact Liam made in such a brief time. 

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
