Alexandra McCormack (nee Mody) of Calgary passed away on Friday, January 3rd, 2020. Ali was 35 years old.
Born in Calgary, Ali graduated from the University of Calgary with her BA in English and her BEd. Ali taught at Bow Valley College and volunteered at Calgary Public Library. After an emotional proposal atop a mountain in Banff, Ali and Jerrod were married in 2015. Smoky, Ali’s beloved dog, was the first addition to their new household.
Ali loved spending time with family and friends and was passionate about reading, movies and music. In front of the fire with one of her eclectic books is often where you would find her.
Ali was cherished by so many, including her loving husband, Rev. Jerrod McCormack, her parents, Dr. Chris Mody and Catherine Mody (nee Lacey), her incredible sisters, Sarah, Lisa and Emily Mody, her grandparents, Jean and Val Mody (2015), Neil (2007) and Barbara Lacey (2010), her treasured godmother, Maggie Lacey, her aunts, Lynda Ashton, Julie Lacey, Suzanne Lacey and Francine Mody, uncles, David Mody, Michael Lacey (2000), Joseph Lacey, Edward Ashton, Dermot Stephens and Matthew Dickson, and cousins Michael and Helen Ashton, Lauren Ashton and Matthew Croutch, Kate Stephens, Lily Lacey, Zach Ashton and Daniel Croutch, the entire McCormack family including Paul and Audrey McCormack, and by Ali’s close friends, including dear friend Peter Lawrence.
In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s words…”You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful person I have ever known – and even that is an understatement.” We miss you Ali. All those who knew you understood your true bravery and that too is an understatement.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Canterbury Room.
