John Brian Schleppe of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 after a short but valiant battle with Cancer. John was born in Calgary on July 18, 1959 to Jack and Jean (Alford) Schleppe where he was raised with his siblings Joanne and Bryan. John met his wife, Vickilynne Morrison Schleppe, during High School through the Pony Club. In 1981, John graduated from the inaugural class of Survey Engineering at the University of Calgary and was awarded the APEGGA Gold Medal for highest academic standing. He started his career as a Survey Engineer, spending much of his time on ships in Eastern Canada, Haiti, Indonesia, and Africa. In 1987, John and Vicki relocated to Port Moody, BC; however, returned to Calgary in 1990, to be closer to family. In 1996, John completed his Masters in Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary. As a Professional Engineer John was viewed as a leader in the field of Geomatics Engineering, authoring no less than eighteen technical papers and was named on five patents. John was a dedicated father, woodworker, outdoor enthusiast, hunter, archer, volunteer, and camper. Every October, John enjoyed an annual hunting and camping trip to James River with his parents and brother.. He was extremely proud of his family`s archery achievements, several times sharing podium finishes with his family on the provincial and national level.

John is survived by and missed dearly by his wife of thirty-seven years, Vickilynne Morrison Schleppe; his children, Michael (Lucie), Caitlyn (Nathan), and Adam; granddaughter Georgia; siblings, Joanne (Merlin) and Bryan; as well as many in-laws, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
