Obituary of John Jeremy JELLISON

September 1, 1937 – Cortez Island, British Columbia
January 17, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Jerry Jellison of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Friday, January 17, 2020.

Jerry was born on Cortez Island, BC in September of 1937.  He was the oldest brother of four.  He grew up in Vernon, BC where he met his wife Phyllis.   They were married on May 9, 1959 and started their life together in Vancouver, BC.

In Vancouver, Jerry began his long and distinguished career with the Hudson’s Bay Company, where he was greatly loved by all who worked with and for him.   Several moves and many years later, Jerry and Phyllis settled in Calgary, AB.   After the loss of his wife Phyllis in 1999, Jerry wound down his career with the Bay and took retirement.

During their almost forty years of marriage, Jerry and Phyllis welcomed three daughters into their family.  He also became the proud Papa to three granddaughters, whom he loved introducing as “Jac, Jeorg and Joe”!  In 2018, Jerry was thrilled when he was made a great-grandfather to Paisley.  His face would light up the room every time he saw her.  She was his little Sweet P.

Jerry is remembered by his family for his constant and unwavering dedication to them.  He was always there; ready to jump in and rescue, solve problems, or just be a strong listening ear to his daughters, no matter the situation.  Jerry always showed his love through hugs and expressions of warmth and concern.

He will be remembered for his beautiful poems, his warm nature, and genuine personal interest in all he met.

We will deeply miss our Dad, our Papa, our Popsicle.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Corrinne Jellison, Cheryl (Murray) Eby, and Charlene (Dan) Gnam; two grandchildren, Jeorgia Gnam and Joely (Cody) Nabseth,; one great-grandchild Paisley Nabseth; and his brother Rod (Lynn) Jellison.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Curly and Tess Jellison; his loving wife Phyllis Jellison; his brothers, Bobby Jellison, and Bud Jellison; and his granddaughter Jacquelyn Seigo (nee Gnam).
