I have known Barry since he lived in Calgary as a young boy, then again in Oakville and then again back in Calgary, Barry was an exceptional member of the aviation fraternity ,a true professional and one of a kind. Barry was also a wonderful person and a true friend to many , Barry brought happiness where ever he went, I am truly sorry for his family and their great loss.

I knew Barry during High School. He was the "new guy" from out west with the crazy, curly hair and a huge, friendly smile. He was athletic, adventurous, capable, and had a great sense of humor. I instantly became friends with him and remember Lana asking me about him. I would say it was literally "love at first sight," for the two of them. They became inseparable and were clearly very happy. So, It came as no surprise that they eventually wed. The wedding was very beautiful.
We lost touch over the years but thanks to Facebook, I could see from the photos Lana posted that they were continuing to enjoy their lives together. I can't even imagine the sorrow Lana and the boys feel having lost him and at such an early time of his life. Although I've never met their sons, I'm sure they share the same wonderful attributes their father had and I know they will all support each other during this sorrowful time. My sincere condolences to Lana and the boys..

I met Barry in 2012 when he was an instructor for a course I was taking. His great attitude toward life was readily apparent as was his desire to share his knowledge and experience with the students. Later I had many interactions with Barry over the phone as he was maintaining aircraft for the company I was working for. I always appreciated his professionalism, his dedication and his ability to remain calm and in good humour no matter how stressful the situation.
I tried to meet with Barry whenever he traveled to Toronto and we had many great discussions about life and aviation.
My deepest condolences to Lana, Matthew and James. I never met you but Barry’s love and devotion to you was obvious when we spoke.
Barry my friend, you will be missed.

Barry was a great guy and friend . I first meet him at Wardair in the 80s and worked again with him at Skyservice . My sincere condolences to his family .
The Hadads (Kerry and Cheryl) met Barry and Lana when we moved to Oakville, Ontario so many years ago but the memories are still fresh.
At our very first interaction, it was crystal clear that these two folks not only belonged to each other, but they were quality people...just nice human beings.
I quickly leaned on Barry's expertise, as I am totally not a handy person, and being a new home owner, I constantly asked for his advice, which quickly turned into him actually doing the task for me...all it took was a beer and a good laugh as payment.
Our kids also became friends, which bode well for the family friendship.
We were very saddened to see them leave for greener, or should I say whiter / winter pastures in Calgary, but we were happy for their new adventure and journey.
I will always remember Barry for his genuine kindness, generosity, and laughter...it was a pleasure to know you and a privilege to be your friend .
To Lana, Mathew, and James...be comforted in the fact that you had a great role model, and was surrounded by just a good guy.

I have known Barry for about 10 years. He worked with me as a instructor with PFI Aviation and was always, without exception, a pleasure to work with. He was very professional, highly motivated and had an extremely high work ethic. Additionally Barry was a very nice man with a lively sense of humour, a very pleasant personality and a cheerful attitude towards life.
When I was in Calgary I would often call Barry and we would get together for a coffee and a little catch up time. I will certainly miss those opportunities.
My sincerest condolences to his wife Lana and his sons.

Humour, grace and integrity are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking of Barry. The time at Canada 3000 was simply better when Barry would walk in the room with that great big smile and "roll with the punches" attitude. You knew you would be laughing shortly, no matter what was happening at the moment. Barry, simply put, was one of the good guys and will be missed. To Lana, Matthew, James and the dogs, he will always surround you.

Barry was one of the people I saw a lot at the airport. He was the one that saved flights and got people safely on their way. He was always friendly and excellent at what he did. He alway has time to talk and explain and we often had good conversations that went beyond aviation.
My condolences to his wife and kids. Barry is also part of the YYC family and we will all miss him.

I met Barry 5 yrs ago at the airport. I knew right away when he walked in that we were going to get along. Barry always had a smile on his face no matter what issues he was fixing. He always had a joke for me when he came in the office, always making me laugh. My heart broke when I heard the news. Barry my friend, may you continue to smile down on us all and fill our broken hearts with all of the wonderful memories of you. To Lana and his boys, Barry always spoke so fondly and very proudly of you all, and always with a twinkle in his eye at the mention of Lana. You are all in our thoughts and prayers..
