Condolences
With all my heart I wish I could be with my family today to say goodbye to my Nana. I have many memories and stories of her and papa, a lifetime of love that would not; could not, fit within the small span of allowable space permitted here on this website. Nana was always there for me, regardless of the situation she always had a word of advice or a simple, affectionate silence that you knew spoke volumes, that said in no uncertain words how much she loved you and wanted nothing but the best for you, that she was -there- for you. Whether it was getting stuck at the Calgary airport due to weather or just desperately needing a hug, Nana was there. Usually with soup and a plate of rice krispy squares with raisins in, and her undying catch phrase of 'Oh Dear'. She taught me to knit, and even praised my attempts that produced a truly ugly scarf of many widths and colors no respectful person would want to wear, and never ceased to keep me working on my artwork no matter how discouraged or frustrated I got with it. With all my love and a broken heart, I want her to know how much I loved her and still do, and will carry each and every memory of her with me in my heart. To my family who I know hurt as much as I do with her loss, I send all my love. You are in my thoughts and heart today and always.
Love always
Amber, Mark and Liam. (Winnipeg Manitoba)
I fondly remember many talks with Mary about her experiences coming to Canada, settling into Calgary, and memories of her family. Mary's resilience and strength was truly inspiring. Forever in my heart is her kind smile, My thoughts and prayers go out to the McGovern family, and everyone touched by her kindness.
Take gentle care,
Cindy
Thinking of you all with heartfelt sympathy. May you feel Gods comforting presence during this time of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember Mary having the most beautiful hair and very much enjoyed corresponding with her over the years. Much love Margaret McGovern and family (Ireland).
Mary was our great auntie and as children we remember fondly her visits to Ireland with great uncle Terence. We remember her soft spoken voice and how she and mum would laugh a lot together. She was gentle and a beautiful person. All the McGovern Children In Ireland (Terry and Carmel’s)
Mary was more than a mother in-law to me,she gave me so many gifts in life one of which I will never forget is our thing about the man in the moon. Mary would call me to go outside and look at the moon, I would be out on our driveway in Edmonton with Mary on the phone and we would both be looking for his face. Every time I look at the moon I will have a fond memory of Mary. She was the kindest person I have ever met in my life and I will truly miss her.

I have fond memories of uncle Terence and auntie Mary visiting us in the 60's in Ireland. As children we always looked forward to their visits. In our eyes she was a beautiful looking lady, kind and all the boys quened up for her kisses!!
She will be sadly missed but the memories that we have of her and uncle Terence bring love into our hearts.
Thinking of all the family at this time.
