Gordon Grossberndt, beloved husband of Daniela (nee Bechelli) of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer and succumbing to a heart attack, at the age of 65 years.

Gordon was born to Karl and Sarah Grossberndt in Dryden, ON. Gordon married the love of his life Daniela forty-two years ago on May 20th, 1978, after moving to Calgary from Dryden. Gordon studied tile setting at Red Deer College and became a Red Seal Journeyman in 1976. This was an honour he shared with the world and the industry as he was well known for his work. Everyone knew who he was and he was well respected and sought after in the industry. Gordon decided to become Roman Catholic in 2012 so he could be with his wife for eternity. He was always happy to be fishing, hunting, camping, or relaxing at the lake in his boat on the beautiful open water. He enjoyed his weekends at the trailer, but he always loved being home surrounded by family. He always wanted to be surrounded by his family, no matter how hard the day at work was or what was happening. Gordon was a very devoted blood donor to the Canadian Blood Services as his blood was a universal type and his was also special in the way that it can be given to premature babies. He was very proud of the honour the Canadian Blood Services gave him for his many years of donation and to the many babies his blood was used for. Gordon was devastated that after the Hodgkin's Lymphoma he was unable to donate and prayed to God to help the babies live.

Besides his loving wife Daniela, Gordon is survived by his beloved mother-in-law Giuliana Bechelli; his daughter Amanda and her husband Chris Joly; his son Jonathan Grossberndt (Jeannine Tisor); the loves of his life, his precious grandchildren Wyatt and Emmett Joly, and Laelynn Grossberndt; his sister Elsie and her husband Rowland Morrison, of Rainy River, ON and their children Dale (Cheryl) Morrison, Laurie (Ron) Morris and Glenn (Sandy) Morrison; and his sister Clara and her husband Rick Merrit of Creston, BC. Gordon is also survived by many nieces and nephews across Canada and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents Karl and Sarah Grossberndt; his father-in-law Giuseppe Bechelli; and his niece Rolene Gutknecht.
