Condolences
Dear Joan and family,
We were sorry to learn of Gary's passing. You've had a nice, long life together and it's sad to have it ended.
Sincerely, Carol and Jack Moore.
Dear Joan, I am so sorry for your loss. Gary was such a wonderful man - a truly gentle and kind soul. Although I didn’t know him well, I have very fond memories of the times we spent together, both here in Victoria and in Invermere. My thoughts are with you.
Dear Joan and Dean and family,
I'm so sorry we've lost this fine man. You were all so welcoming when Judy and I visited your beautiful home at Invermere and my last memory of Gary is him cleaning the pool at Betty's on the beach when I jumped at the chance to say a quick hello during my lunch break. Always smiling and cordial, I'm sorry that I won't see Gary again. Sending love.

My sincere condolences to Joan and family. I met Gary and Joan in 1957 when Gary and I were articling with Price Waterhouse in Calgary. One of my fond memories is a weekend hike to Mount Assiniboine. What a wonderful weekend that was! Rest in peace Gary.

Joan, Dean, Patti and Anna,
Jim and I were so very saddened to hear of Gary’s passing. My goodness, I will truly miss his smiling kind face. I always enjoyed our chats when we would see each other out and about walking on Lakeview Road in Invermere. He was such a wonderful listener, always interested in anything I had to say. He will be sorely missed, I considered him a good friend. Lakeview Road won’t be the same without him.
Dear Joan & Dean,
I am sending heart-felt warm wishes to all the family, and remembering Gary, for his kind and generous contribution to the Yoga Association of Alberta- in it's formation and development in Calgary. He was a very valuable and appreciated part of the growth of Yoga in Calgary.
Also, fondly remembering the times when our paths crossed in Invermere.
Hugs & Smiles,
Shirley Johannesen

I was sad to read of Gary’s passing. Gary was a friendly and gentle person to me, a stranger, at the Acadia Pool. He shared his friendly smile and gentle ways as we passed each other in our “lanes” at our Deep Water Aquasize class. Joan, may you be comforted.

Dear Joan and Family,
We are sad to read of Gary’s passing. In this upside down world, a difficult time is even more so. We will remember the times our paths crossed when our sons roamed Chinook Park and Henry Wise Wood.
Sending a hug to you.

We are very saddened to learn of Gary's passing, particularly in this time of increased distancing. Our memories of Gary are of lively conversations with the neighbours, seemingly endless energy for taking care of the house and yard, and a great deal of patience with young children.
