Condolences
Every time Lloyd was together with us, either out here on the west coast or in Alberta, he was always a joyous, happy and very caring brother-in-law (for me). He always saw the glass "half full" and really enjoyed getting together with the family and sharing stories and having fun. I don't think Lloyd ever ran out of jokes. Thankfully we were able to be together in Calgary prior to the COVID so we had some happy times together. My condolences to my sister Joan and to their children and grandchildren and great grandchild as another part of this closure moves forward. Lloyd's angels and spirits will mingle above us all for a while....
Hello to all, I have so many great memories of Lloyd "Opps" Norman. Lloyd was my mentor in joining Corinthian Lodge and the Clown unit of Al Azhar Shriners.(not necessarily in that order lol) Although we are many years apart in age we quickly developed a friendship and mutual respect of one another. Many of the pictures I have from my experiences have Lloyd standing right beside me! The man was never short of a joke and always had a smile for those he loved. Lloyd was genuine to his core and was not afraid to let emotions get in the was of that. You always knew if he was happy or proud or sad. I learned from Lloyd to just be and show yourself to/or with others. One of my favorite moments came after I was accepted into the Shrine and Lloyd was supposed to be my sponsor. He was unable to make it because he decided to be in the hospital with heart issues that weekend. Once he was back home I came to visit and told him, "Hey buddy you owe me something". Followed up by " you think you can get away with it that easy" By now Lloyd was looking nervous and reluctantly asked what did he do? I pulled out my Fez (which is still in the box he gave me) and said you didn't complete your duty as my mentor. You need to put the Fez on me to finish the job! Well he took a big breath and smiled and completed his duty. All the while saying "you got me my boy...you got me" To be honest I remember very little of my weekend at the Shrine initiation, but I will never forget that moment with a very special friend!
My condolences to all of Lloyd's family and friends he will be remembered and missed.
Thanks so much,
Jason "Koko" Kosolofski
From Lori Duane: On my birthday, every year without fail, I'd get a phone call from Lloyd and Joan, and they'd sing happy birthday to me. And if I wasn't home, they'd leave me a message, singing happy birthday. It was always such a treat to hear them singing. ❤
