Condolences
Hello my name is Julie I was garys close friend and care giver in Las Vegas,Nv.
I've known gary for 10 years and I love him and trixie dearly.. He treated my daughter and I has if we were family... my heart is truly broken and I send my love to his family and friends in Canada...
So sorry to hear of Gary's passing.
My name is Mark Reuber, I am from Ontario. I only knew Gary for a few short years. Gary and I became acquainted through a mutual business associate. We quickly realized we had some similar interests and common ground. What I appreciated about Gary was his humor, his intellect and knowledge of how to run a successful business and his forthright character.
Of course you didn't spend much time with Gary without getting to know Trixie! The last time I spent with Gary he toured my wife and I around Alberta in his Tesla looking at some potential business properties and we also visited one of Gary's friends. Trixie of course was part the gang. Gary was pulled over by the police for staying in the "hammer lane" too long! When Gary opened the passenger window allowing the officer to communicate with us, Trixie was right up in the officers face - she didn't want to bite him, she wanted to lick him! Ha ha. The officer was not into it and let us know it wasn't appreciated! Gary took it all in stride!
I am saddened to lose Gary. My life was made a better knowing him. My condolences go out to all his family and friends. He will be missed.

I was very sorry to hear of Gary's passing, and my condolences to his friends and family.
I was instrumental in obtaining a buyer for Gary Heer Transport when he sold his Calgary operation.
The interesting part, is that we never met prior to the sale, but only after the sale when I met and took Gary to one of his favorite restaurants. He was very easy to work with, very honest and upfront about everything.
A super human being, I am sure he set an example for many.
All the best to friends and family, I am sure Gary will be missed by all who knew him.
Wow. Hard to believe Gary is gone. I have known Gary since 2002 and sold him countless trucks over the years. Gary was a friend as well as a customer and I always enjoyed our dinners out or our business trips together. I think one of Gary's favorite trips was when a group of us were at a Nascar race in in North Carolina and every day we went out for lunch and supper I would tell the waitress that it was Gary's birthday and see what they would do for him. Without fail the girls would come out with a special cake or a dessert with a candle and sing him Happy Birthday. Of course it was not even close to Gary's birthday but he went along with it every day and we all had great laughs seeing the girls fawn over Gary every meal. Gary was a smart business man and I know his customers loved his prompt and reliable service and I faced the wrath of Gary many times when one of his trucks was broken down somewhere and Gary had a hot load to deliver but I always knew it was because Gary was so concerned with getting the loads delivered on time. I will miss my chats with Gary and our visits whenever I was in Calgary. RIP my friend. You left us way too soon.

Gary married Aline McGrath, my sister, when I was fifteen years old and she was seventeen. Aline was a young woman raised in Trochu just down the road from the Heer family farm. Gary and Aline made their home in Calgary and unfortunately parted ways but several years later they came back together and spent over 30 years together in Regina and then Calgary. Gary was a special son-in-law to our mom and dad Joe and Marguerite McGrath. They loved him like a son and Gary would stop in and visit them when he could. Aline spent alot of time making freezer meals for Papa Heer when Gary’s lovely mom passed away and he was left alone on the farm. She would drive out to the farm with little daughter Amanda and Gary and have good visits with Papa. Gary’s nephew and niece Nicole and Derek Munro will miss him. Wayne and I spent memorable times at Gary and Aline’s home in Calgary building flower beds and trimming trees and enjoying Christmas gatherings with the last one including our brother Roger McGrath and his wife Darlene from Vancouver. It will be a special memory for sure. The last few years have been difficult with Aline being hospitalized and institutionalized with dementia. Gary has been there for her and visited Hillcrest Home in Calgary with his beloved little poodle Trixie. He would bring Aline anything he thought she would find joy or comfort in. The staff at Hillcrest are devastated and say they will sorely miss Gary’s teasing and visits with Trixie. Gary’s good friends Diana and Willis Kereluik of Calgary have always been a part of his family. They have known each other and been best of friends with Gary and Aline as well as Aline’s daughter Amanda. Their support and caring of Gary and Aline for countless years is immeasurable. I am so thankful and I am sure the rest of Gary’s family is. RIP Gary. Your Mcgrath/Munro family wish you safe travels to your next destination.
