Obituary of Larry Grant MERIAM
October 4, 1943 – Regina, Saskatchewan
May 26, 2020 – Cochrane, Alberta
It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Grant Meriam announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the age of 76.
Larry would split his time between Cochrane, Alberta, and his cabin at Cocolalla, Idaho. He enjoyed his work with designing trailers, canoes, paddling down the river and the people by his side. No matter where he was or what he was doing he was always happy to sit, have a pint or two and spend the night talking about old times, old friends, and telling paddling stories. Larry’s greatest joy was his grandkids. He would make it to as many of their sporting events, performances, and activities as he could. He loved watching them ride their bikes, playing at the farm, paddling their kayaks and he was always happy to have a little helper in the garden or with whatever project he had going.
Larry will be forever remembered by his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Holly Meriam of Cochrane, Alberta; his daughter and son-in-law Ila and Kenny Schmitt of Carstairs, Alberta; and their mother Gail Meriam; his granddaughters, Harper, Jorja, and Paisley; his grandson Wyley; his travelling buddy Barley, and numerous dear friends. Larry was predeceased by his father Lester Meriam, his mother Charlotte Meriam (nee Bell), and his sister Donna Lynne Walsh (nee Meriam).
A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in memory of Larry to Cochrane Legion Branch #15, 114-5 Avenue Cochrane, AB T4C 1A1 and will be allocated to the Veterans Food Bank. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Larry’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
