Obituary of Hideko (Heidi) TERAKITA

May 25, 1930 – Vancouver, British Columbia

June 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Heidi Terakita  beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the age of 90 years.  She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 25, 1930 to Chuhachi and Yasuye Kawasaki.  She moved with her family to Alberta in 1945 to join the Tsuji family in Raymond, Alberta.

She worked for the Bank of Montreal, Highfield Branch as a Bank Teller then moved to Customer Service.  She retired from the bank in 1995.

Heidi married Mitsuyiki Terakita in 1952. She was  married to Mitsy for 65 years.

Heidi is survived by her sister Masako (Mary) Takeda of Lethbridge; her 6 children, Christine (John) Woychyshyn of Monaca Pennsylvania, Bonnie (Stuart) Brinker, Kayla (Geoff) Prowse, Candy (Garth) Tedford , and Jill (Greg) Jones all of Calgary, and Tim (Sandy) Terakita of Richmond, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended Kawasaki and Terakita family members.

Heidi was predeceased by her husband Mitsy; her parents; and her brother Tad Kawasaki from Blairmore.

Heidi loved to play Bingo and go to Las Vegas, but her favourite times were spent with her family.  She dedicated her entire life to raising her children, grandchildren and most of all taking care of Dad.  She never went a day without putting everyone else first.  Heidi will be remembered by the constant love she surrounded all of us with and her smile will live on forever in our hearts.

The family wish to thank the Staff at AgeCare Midnapore Bridlewood, and Unit 68, staff, Nurses and Doctors at South Calgary Campus.
