Condolences
Mrs. Burnell was my Grade 3/4 teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas school in Calgary from September 1975-June 1976. She helped me do both grades in one year because we had immigrated from Holland in May of 1974. She was an amazing teacher and a wonderful person and made a great impact on my educational journey! God Bless! Wendy (nee Pieters) Illes.
I have many great memories of Aunt Jean, as an Ursuline Nun, then after she left the order and moved to Calgary. My husband Aime and I helped her settle in her new life. We had many shared family events after she married Joe Burrell. Joe & Aime became very good friends. We travelled together, bought a Time Share together, golfed, rode bikes, fishing, played cards, so many good times were had until Uncle Joe’s sudden passing, then my husband followed a few months later. After that, Aunt Jean and I spent a lot of time together, family functions, shopping, church services and travelled together. As my mother’s youngest sister we were very close over the years. It was sad to see her needing help the last few years of her life, but also consoling to see she had such good care. I am proud and grateful of my brother Michael & his wife Rosalyn making sure Auntie received the care she needed after I moved away. Auntie had a good heart, brought happiness / kindness to many when part of Pastoral Care. Aunt Jean was blessed to enjoy many full, varied chapters in her life. May she now R.I.P.
Regina was an unselfish generous woman. One of my fondest memories was the 50th birthday celebration she did for me as such celebrations were few and far between. She was always happy to receive visitors and could not wait for us to come back. She was always happy for the visits with her grand and great grand children. She never forgot a birthday and there was always cake. Beyond the call of duty she even offered and made room in her home for my mother Rose when she was in transition. Sylvia Olivia and Elyse.
Saddened by loss of my dear Aunt Jean, memories go far back to prelate days as one of my teachers.
loved her smile kindness and hospitality she shared many times and shared her vacation place with us
. she will be greatly missed
MY prayers for Jean, Elaine Guertin. P.A. Edmonton AB
