Obituary of David Andrew SOKOLAN

September 6, 1941 – Tofield, AB
June 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

David Andrew Sokolan, beloved husband of Joan Sokolan (nee Bray) of Calgary, AB passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Dave was born in Tofield, AB on September 6, 1941 in the family home. He was married to his loving wife Joan for 53 years.

Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joan, son Shane Sokolan (Val Olson) and daughter Kathy Sokolan-Oblak (Brian Oblak); his granddaughters, Brayden and Lauren Oblak and Larissa Janiskevich; as well as numerous relatives and friends.  Dave is also survived by his sister Helen. He was predeceased by his parents, Kataryna and John Sokolan; and his brothers, Joe, John, Mike, Murray, Ernie; and sisters, Bonnie and Sylvia.

David always had two or more jobs focusing on providing for his family.  The majority of his career was with Calgary Transit as an operator, LRT driver and inspector.  Some of his other jobs included: race car driver, gas station attendant, Beadex and Campbells soup.

He will be remembered for his straight forwardness and telling it like he saw it. He had a big heart and was always willing to help people, especially his family and friends.
