I have been thinking of Clara lately, especially while making my rhubarb muffins, cakes and sauces. She generously have us part of her rhubarb plant and raspberry canes several years ago and we remember her each year as we enjoy these fruits. I got to know Clara when she became one of the hand stitchers of our weekly church quilting group. She was warm, caring and quiet, and had a broad smile and a unique laugh. She loved her family and had a large house and garden to keep her busy. When we visited we would talk about quilting, gardening, family and weather, all while enjoying a cup of tea and a cookie. When I wasn't able to visit in person we would chat on the phone. She will be missed. It is because of love that we grieve and because of love that we are comforted in our sorrow.
