Obituary of Clara BAXTER (nee Hjelte)

July 31, 1926 – Riverhurst, Saskatchewan
June 20, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Clara Baxter is announcing her passing on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

Clara was born in the Riverhurst, Sask. district, youngest daughter to Carl and Anna Hjelte.  She was the last of her family, having been predeceased by her parents, husband Arthur, and brothers, Ernest, Henry, and Edward; and sisters, Linnea, Ellen, and Elsie.

Clara and Arthur farmed in the Riverhurst-Central Butte area while raising their five children.  They moved to Calgary after retiring from farm life and enjoyed visits from their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Clara always kept busy with her family, cooking, growing her garden and flowers, and craft groups.

She is survived by her children, Ann (Peter), Larry (Debra), June (Peter), William (Evelyn), and Carol Lynn (Dan); her grandchildren, Krista, Amanda, and Lorne; and Amanda’s daughters, Ariana and Aurora.

In respect for her wishes, there will not be a formal funeral at this time. If friends so desire, tributes in Clara’s memory may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Clara’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family would like to thank the Drs and all the staff at the AgeCare Skypointe who cared for Clara and made her feel special. Also to all Howse and Parkin family and special friends who always made her feel welcome and special.
