Obituary of Dr. Arthur Rennie HANSLIP
August 11, 1934 – Edmonton, Alberta
June 23, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
The world is just a little bit less bright today than it was yesterday. It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Hanslip.
Arthur was predeceased by his wife of fifty-one years, Doreen; and is survived by his siblings, Gavin (Marian), Sharon, and Barrie; his adoring children, Michael (Kathryn) and Lisa (Andy); his grandson Sebastian, and five grand-furbabies.
Arthur was born in Edmonton, AB and grew up in Victoria, BC. After graduating from medical school at the University of British Columbia in 1959, he worked in the Arctic on a commercial ship, in a hospital in London, England, and for the Save the Children campaign in Jordan. Arthur settled in Calgary in 1964 and practiced medicine for the next forty years. A good artist and carpenter, a voracious reader, an inveterate traveller, a notable optimist, and most recently – a budding one-pot chef. Arthur brought goodness and joy to whatever endeavour he undertook. He was a kind, gentle man who could talk to just about anyone about just about anything. Arthur will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A life well lived, but ended too soon.
