Condolences
I met Janusz in 1971 in Winnipeg, Manitoba shortly after he arrived in Canada. He came to visit Stan in our small one-bedroom apartment at the corner of Pembina and University Crescent, and stated that we lived like “lords”. This, of course, was just an expression of Janusz’s dry sense of humour, as our bookshelf was supported by concrete blocks, and he slept on a flimsy camping mattress in the living room. That year and the next, we saw Janusz quite often. We tried to make the wait for his family arrival from Poland less lonely. Probably, the most memorable was our drive from Calgary to California in a big car without air conditioning in the middle of the summer. Janusz must have thought that his brother’s girlfriend was totally crazy, as I suggested camping at Hoover dam. It happened to be over 100 degrees F. many years later, to my great surprise, Janusz recollected that as a fun trip for him.
As Janusz waited for his family and while establishing himself as a valuable professional, in his free time he became an avid amateur athlete playing a lot of tennis and cycling in the summer, and skiing in the winter.
Two brothers, two brilliant minds and good considerate humans left this world too early.
Mike I met your dad in the mid eighties and under his profession supervision developed pipeline simulation software used on multiple projects. Your dad was a good sport. I teased him occasionally. When Lavalin came out to our family ranch for a trail ride I told him I would match him with an animal that suited his personality. I then teasingly brought out a donkey. He smiled and insisted on a picture of the three of us. I never did get a copy of that picture.
I think of him often. He was a great mentor.

I had the pleasure of working on a number of projects with Janusz while both of us were working with SNC-Lavalin. I particular it was on the Kenya Pipeline Project where Janusz's expertise and knowledge came to be appreciated. It was a relatively small pipeline in diameter but ran over very difficult country and difficult changes in elevation. However on that project and several other projects I came to appreciate his professionalism. Sorry to see he has passed on.

Dear Mike, Deana and Cameron:
We are very sorry to hear of the passing of your dear dad, father-in-law and grandfather. We know what a good son you were to your dad and all the time you and your family devoted to him, which must have meant a lot to him and which he must truly have appreciated, Hold dear to all the precious memories you have of him and may they comfort you all at this sad time.
May his soul Rest In Peace.
Jack, Sandra and family
I met Janusz in mid 80s after I joined SNC Lavalin in Calgary. From the beginning he was ready to share his oil and gas expertise; first with a new member of the team, and later during the 20 years that followed in support, as pipeline group leader, for the projects that I was lucky enough to be assigned to and manage to completion.
During the years Janusz and I traveled for different projects to Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Romania.
In the process, our relation progressed from colleagues to family friends. We had regular family visits during which we were able to meet other members of the respective families, to talk about our travels, to eat specific preferred food, and yes, the mushrooms he liked so much.
Losing Joanna his wife of 57 years was difficult for Janusz. It was then when we were able to better know Mike, and the getting together continued to a certain extend.
During 2019, after Janusz moved to AgeCare Seton facility we visited him a several times, kept in touch by phone and numerous emails.
And then 2020 with its covid-19 and Janusz’s deteriorating health condition….
With great sadness we received the news of passing of our good friend. It took some time to go back and remember the years we spent together; and were so many special moments.
Janusz was a good man, a good colleague and a good friend.
We will miss him greatly.
May he rest in peace and his memory be eternal!
Alex and Ellen
