He emigrated to Calgary, Canada, in 1971 with his immediate family joining him afterword.

Janusz had a true passion for state-of-the-art engineering design. His longest tenure was at the Calgary office of SNC Lavalin where he was involved in a variety of complex international and Canadian projects. These took him to client offices in the Middle East, Africa, Russia, Newfoundland, and others. Upon retirement in 2004, he became a Life Member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

Janusz thoroughly enjoyed travel and the rewarding experiences from sampling different cultures and environments. He felt blessed to have had the opportunity to swim with sting-rays in Tahiti, hike on the Great Wall in China, visit Buddhist monks in Bhutan, and to explore a variety of majestic sites such as the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu, Giza pyramids, and Mt. Nemrut.

Janusz’s other favorite activities included skiing and hiking in the mountains. The latter often involved picking wild mushrooms, especially the Lactarius Deliciosus, which he would then prepare as a delicacy side dish with dinner.
