I am so sorry to hear of Gary's Passing, Very surprised. I met him on arrival at 1 QOR when I transferred in from 2Bn in 67. Got to know him well as he was friends of a family that I also knew. Great guy, well liked in the unit. Real team-player. Lost track of him, ,then met up again, when I went to Vernon in 2000, he was part of the admin staff, and a great help. He did well for himself and the Cadet movement.Very Sad, RIP, Gary, Condolences to his family.
It was sad to read this morning the passing of Gary. I worked with Gary at Camp Vernon for a number of summers and I always enjoyed my time with him and I was so impressed with his knowledge and level of service to Canada. I offer my sincere condolences to Gary's family and friends. Gary was a true soldier. May he Rest In Peace.

Norma and the Hurst Family -
I write to express to you and your family the sincere condolences of the Patricias on the passing of Gary Hurst. I cannot say that I met your husband - I was in 3 PPCLI for only two years in 1971-1973 - but the Regiment remembers Gary's service not only in 3 PPCLI but in all those other tours and postings as well. We are glad that his remuster opened the doors it did for him. The family can be very proud of Gary's service.
Gary's name will be read in this year’s list of the lost when we read that list out this November in the Scared Space in Beechwood, the National Military Cemetery, Ottawa. His name will also be listed in the 2020 edition of the Patrician’s Last Post section.
Thank you for obviously supporting Gary throughout his service and later. We are glad that he had a vibrant family and a good life after the army. His obituary certainly says so.
Should one of your family want to maintain a connection with the Regiment, a gratis three year Memorial Membership in the PPCLI Association is available. Contact Mr Herb Kenny, the Membership Chairman, at hkenny@shaw.ca, for details.
We hope you and your family can remember Gary fondly as a soldier as well as a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, GG and GGG, cadet leader et al. ! Thank you all.
