Condolences
My condolences to the Drummond family on the loss of Chuck. I was lucky to have Chuck as my first Second-in-command as a young Lieutenant in 1976. The job of a Warrant Officer when a young LT arrives at the unit is to train the youngster and ensure he becomes a good officer. Chuck was that man for me. He provided mentorship and advice, always respectful and always aware of the situation so that he could teach and train correctly; he was also very loyal. His good humour would always shine through even in difficult moments - for example at 35 degrees below zero on a winter exercise. I thank him for all his advice and hope he is resting in peace, my old friend.
Lieutenant-General (retd) J.O.Michel Maisonneuve, 12eRBC
To the Drummond Family, please accept my condolences on the loss of Chuck. I was a young Lieutenant in B Squadron, the Douzieme Regiment Blinde du Canada (12e RBC) in Valcartier, Quebec in 1975 when I first met Chuck. At that time, he was the Troop Sergeant for another young Lieutenant named Georges Rousseau. Chuck obviously did a good job of "training" his Troop Leader, as Col (Ret'd) Rousseau is now the Colonel Commandant of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps, in which Chuck so proudly served. Chuck was one-of-a-kind and a person who always had a huge smile on his face except for the few times that somebody had crossed his path (and then, watch out!). He could always be counted upon to work hard and to boost the morale of all those who had the pleasure of working with him. Many, many times, I could hardly contain my laughter while he recounted another one of his multitude of like experiences, punctuated by a large assortment of unique "adjectives and descriptors".As noted, he was an excellent athlete, particularly in softball. In Cyprus in 1977, the Senior NCOs had a team and it so happened that the Officers team had a very good pitcher. As I recall, the NCOs won every game, due in large part because Chuck was so expert at heckling the Officer's pitcher, that the pitcher could no longer concentrate, and his expert pitching went out the window.. The pitcher was the only person who didn't see that the joke was on him, and Chuck would display that huge smile at the end. This is but one of the too numerous anecdotes that one could recount about Chuck. He left an iindelible imprint on me and so many others. Thank you Mrs Drummond for sharing him with us, and to Chuck, thank you for all those wonderful memories.
Chuck will be missed at C3 by both staff and clients. Many a laugh was shared at the Centre while Chuck educated us on the finer points of crib. Maureen I think of you often, remember the fond memories. Jane-C3
My thoughts are with the entire Drummond family but especially to Maureen and Chucks daughters. I knew Chuck from having maintained a friendship with his youngest daughter Dennai and for the fact they lived about ten mins away from where I did for many years.
Chuck was always very kind to me and welcomed me into his home many times, and drove us many places. My heart hurts for you all.
RIP Chuck you will be sorely missed. Thanks for being open to having me around so often all those years ago.
Ball games with Chuck we’re always fun! His Sense of humour and infectious laugh made being called out so much easier to take. Years later the same humour and laugh were heard on the basketball court.
My heart goes out to you gals and your family. Love ya Donna and Meg
Chuck was a fun and competitive bowling team mate and a fun crib partner. His laugh always brought a smile to everyone. We will miss him. Al, Shari, Ashley and Darcy
To Maureen and family, we are so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. Chuck will be greatly missed by all at Bowling Depot. He always came in with a smile, a greeting to all and he loved to help the kids. He put in many years as a YBC Coach to children ages 3-19 and has seen many go through the program from Bowlasaurus to Seniors. He bowled in leagues for many years as well and will be not be forgotten by all of his bowling team mates. Wishing you peace to bring comfort and courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart. Lorri Laubenstein , staff and friends from Bowling Depot
