Obituary of Charles DRUMMOND

February 22, 1937 – Beechville, Nova Scotia    
July 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Charles Drummond, beloved husband of, Maureen Drummond (nee O'Brien) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the age of 83 years.

Chuck served in the Canadian Armored core from 1954 until 1981 as a proud member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He was stationed in many places including Quebec, Cyprus and Germany. He attained the rank of Warrant Officer in command of his own troop, receiving five medals of Honor for peacekeeping duties. He worked for Canada Post from 1981 until retirement in 2006, receiving many awards for level of service.

Chuck was a level 4 softball umpire (fastpitch and slowpitch) in a career spanning 25 years, which began in Quebec. He was considered one of the top-level officials in Canada. Chuck was a level 2 youth 5 pin bowling coach in Calgary for 20 years, as well as a competitive bowler himself. He also volunteered as a Grandparent Reader at Sacred Heart Elementary school for 13 years.

He leaves behind his three sisters, Thelma Hill (Bobby), Eve Drummond and Violet Drummond, all of Halifax, NS; as well as wife Maureen Drummond, and daughters, Tanya Barkauskas (Dan), Romney Drummond (William Cuthbert) and Dennai Drummond; he will be missed very much by grandson Nathan Barkauskas, all from Calgary, AB.

Those who will also miss him are sisters-in-law, Rebecca O’Brien of Victoria, BC, Shelagh O’Brien Gras (Konrad) of Golden, BC; and brothers-in-law, Patrick O’Brien and Terry O’Brien (Lilly) of Calgary, AB; as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister Irene Drummond (2014) of Halifax, NS.
