Condolences
I am so sad to hear of Bill’s passing. Bill was a beautiful, gentle soul with such a huge heart. Almost every year for 10 years I came from Australia and had wonderful summers with Bill and Don and our little digging group. Bill’s stamina and love for dinosaur digging made our days that bit brighter and fun. Rest peacefully over those badlands, Bill. Kaz
Bill, I am saddened to hear about your passing. You were a gentle soul, and I fondly remember the couple of field seasons we spent together in southern Alberta with Michael and David -- those were the first of what became many great and productive seasons at the McPheeters Bonebed. You must be so proud of your discovery as you watched students launching their professional careers working in your bonebed. Among all the memories, somehow the one that came to my mind first was when we forded Milk River with pants tucked up for no reason (the water was just below my hip) and boots strapped over our shoulders. You picked up my boot I accidentally dropped in the water. We were just downstream of a cattle crossing point. To this day I have no idea how you could spot it in the murky water as cow patties, in great numbers and disconcerting density, flowed down by us fast.
I will miss you -- and the time spent together -- very much.
